Arte Disponible

Available Art

When advertisers stop making payments on billboards in Guatemala, this is the manner in which they are dealt. To prevent the advertiser from getting free space, the owners wash off the ink leaving what looks akin to a contemporary art version of the ad.

It was difficult to grab photographs as the only time you see these is when you are whipping by on a bus. These three are what I got. Occasionally, the ads were for political parties and the workers cleaned them in such a way to make a statement. Unfortunately, I could not catch any of these examples of second-hand culture jamming: art from dead ads.
